If a customer hasn't paid yet, when do you stop services? |

Am I being too lenient with a customer?
We clean for an Airbnb owner each week. Depending on the number of stays, it usually comes out to be $500 - $1,000 per week.
Our terms say that we bill weekly and he owes us $2,500. We're usually able to collect a little each week but never the full amount so it's built up.
This balance is about 4 weeks late.
Last Friday I sent an email saying we would pause services on 12/14 until we were paid for the previous work. He responded saying he left town for a family emergency and but we would be paid in full on Monday (12/16).
It's now 12/20 and I haven't heard anything. No response to my messages.
I'm trying to be understanding due to the family emergency and this is a big account for us. We've been working decently well together since September.
Here’s what the people said. What’s the right course of action here?

After reading these, what would you do?
Well, here’s what I did.

How did I handle this? Truthfully, I probably let this go on too long. Red flags should have ben going off in my head the very first time payments were delayed. But I’m a “glass half full” kind of guy and I always believe people have the best intentions.
Unfortunately, that means I get burned probably more than my fair share. So take it from me, don’t ignore those red flags. It’s not personal, it’s just business.
If you’ve read all the way to the end here, I would love to know it. Sometimes I have no idea if people are reading to the end, or they just open and close it. So if you have read this far, click this link and enjoy the little thank you.
