Levels to Airbnb Cleaning

Grow your cleaning business beyond just you

Ahh Airbnb cleaning. It’s a stressful, complicated, beautiful job. Only Airbnb cleaners can take a house that has been completely turned upside down by partiers, pets, and downright sloppy people and make it look brand new.

Airbnb cleaners are truly a class of their own. But a lot of you reading this might be trying to get out of cleaning and focus on managing and becoming a true business owner. This is a challenge for many cleaners. No one will ever be as good as you, right? So why would you want to hire other cleaners to take over the cleaning?

This Tuesday edition of Same Day Turn is dedicated to the levels of the Airbnb cleaning business. In my mind, there are 6 levels to the game. The first 5 put you as a cleaner and only part-time manager. But after level 5, your main role shifts to managing and running the “business”.

Levels of Airbnb Cleaning

Of course this is not exact, but it’s close enough.

  1. You clean 1-5 properties yourself

  2. You clean 5-10 properties and have some occasional help

  3. You clean 10-15 properties and have dedicated help from 1 or 2 other cleaners

  4. You clean 15 - 20 properties and manage 3 part-time cleaners

  5. You clean 20 - 25 properties and manage 4 part-time cleaners

Anything above 25 - 30 properties and you’re likely spending most of your time managing and only cleaning in emergency situations. From there, it’s all gravy 😋 This is when you have a legitimate cleaning business that you should now focus on scaling.

For some quick math, just how big is a business that has 25-30 properties? These will be rough numbers but you’ll get the picture. For my business, our average Airbnb cleaning job is $150. Assuming you have 25 properties that are cleaned once per week:

$150 × 4 cleans × 12 months x 25 properties = $180,000

That’s some serious cash. And guess what, if you run your business right, it can be yours.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with staying a solo cleaner and carving out a nice living for yourself. Many solo cleaners are the happiest and least stressed people I know. But if you’re a little crazy (like me) and you want the challenge of growing a business, jump on board!
