Would you like to earn the trust of every host you meet? Want to be the first person a new host calls when their cleaner cancels? Who wouldn’t!

Being the trusted cleaner in your area is a coveted position. Why? Often, you can name your price and if you’re as good as your fans say you are, you’ll get the gig. But just how do you earn that trusted spot in your town? My hot take: sharing insider knowledge. By sharing insights, you position yourself as an expert, building trust and authority.

Hosting, just like cleaning, is a learned skill. No one wakes up on day one as a master host (or cleaner for that matter). It takes years of trial and error, tears, and many lost keys to the supply closet.

New hosts are going through a learning curve just like you did at the beginning of your cleaning journey. So if you’re wanting to become a trusted resource for hosts and earn the first phone call, here’s a secret: flatten the learning curve.

I bet that’s a phrase you were hoping you’d never hear again (s/o to the year 2020). What exactly does this mean for hosts and cleaners? It means you should actively look for ways to make life easier for your hosts or potential hosts. You can do this by sharing your knowledge and pointing out things they might not have thought about.

Here are a couple of examples:

Key Supplies

Yesterday I did an onboarding walkthrough for two new properties in a college town. Two condos side by side. Each 3 bd 2.5 ba and are marketed toward avid sports fans here to see their favorite college team play.

As I did my usual walkthrough, I started noticing things that were clearly missing but the host didn’t take note. Things like bathmats and mattress protectors were not at the property! eek! The host was completely unaware that these were missing from the property.

However, as a cleaner, some items are seared into my mind so deep, there’s no way I could forget. Everyone remembers the first time they changed sheets only to realize the mattress had been totally ruined by stains.

I let the host know that some items were missing and I offered to purchase them for her (at a cost, of course). She accepted and was grateful for the tip. Although it’s a small thing, hosts appreciate it when you have their back.

+1 point for us in our quest to be the most trusted company in the area.

“This is such an amazing and informative course for anyone who’s ready to start their own Airbnb cleaning business. It’s also perfect for residential cleaners and goes into the details of how to strive to be successful.”

Key Information

Here’s another one that anyone can do: post a helpful piece of content or advice in your local host Facebook group. Each city has them. If you want to learn how to find your group, check out this video.

Here’s a sample post that I just did yesterday (feel free to shamelessly steal this)

Why do this? Because it shows hosts that you’re legitimate, that you know your stuff, and you are interested in seeing the whole community thrive.

By sharing your knowledge with hosts (p.s. you have a lot more knowledge about this space than you might think) you set yourself apart and take one step toward becoming a trusted cleaner in your area. Keep this up and you’ll be the first one every new host calls when they want a cleaning quote 💪

Don’t forget to check out the poll at the beginning to see how your rates compare. And if you’re ready to take your business to the next level, grab the course while it’s still on sale!
