One of the best things you can do for your business is set proper expectations with your clients and potential customers.

For example, in our initial quote that we send out to every potential customer, we let them know that we are CLOSED on six days each year. One of these days is Thanksgiving.

Our clients know way ahead of time that if they get a same day turn booking on Thanksgiving day, we won’t be available. Our cleaners have families and lives too. Part of creating a great work environment is turning down the opportunity for higher pay to respect your cleaners.

Another expectation we set is by including our departure cleaning checklist with the quote. No one is left guessing what is included in our cleaning. They also know that if they want to request certain items be cleaned each time (items that aren’t included in our checklist) they might be charged an additional fee.

Of course, you can’t anticipate every single request, but to the extent you can, setting expectations will help your life and business go smoothly.

Challenge: this week, jot down a few of your most common requests from potential customers. Do you have a policy and procedure established? If not, it’s tough to set expectations. Take some time this week to ensure you have the right policies established so you can more effectively set expectations with clients.

P.S. - If you’re feeling a financial squeeze, reach out to Ben, our bookkeeper, who’s helped us uncover massive savings for our business. Together, we’re working toward a healthier, more sustainable business with net profits in the 25-30% range.

Until next time,

Logan
