Ultimate Cleaner Hiring Guide
The missing 🔑 to your growth
Hiring is THE BIGGEST bottleneck in Airbnb cleaning 🍾 and let’s be real, it’s way harder to hire enough Airbnb cleaners than it is to hire enough residential cleaners. Why is that?
Because 65% of your cleans for the week will fall on just two days: Sunday & Monday. This number is straight from my business. Just consider, for a second, your travel schedule. You typically take off late on Friday and stay through the weekend with a checkout on Sunday. That means the Airbnb you just stayed at needs to be cleaned that same day in order to accommodate a last minute booking or a Same Day Turn.
This is why 65% of your cleans happen on two days - that’s when people travel!
With residential cleaning, you typically can spread all your cleans throughout the week so your staffing is evenly spread. Not so with Airbnb cleaning. This is why hiring and staffing is the biggest 🔑 to growth.
My approach to hiring
Before I get too far, I’ve hired +20 cleaners and currently have 14 on my staff. We’ve done over 1,000 5-star cleans and have very low turnover (thankfully 🙏). We have nailed the hiring piece, but it took a LOT of work and a lot of mistakes on my part.
From my POV (point of view) there are 6 major steps in the hiring process. I made them all start with the letter “I” just for fun 😎
Logan’s 6 I’s for hiring
Identify: Go where the cleaners are (Indeed, Turno, FB Groups, etc.)
Interview: A quick 15 minute phone/video call should be more than enough
Investigate: Call references, ask to see Airbnb listings they currently clean, etc.
Insure: Ask for proof of general liability insurance and a clean background check
Inspect: Do a test clean (not a same-day turn) and inspect what you expect
Initiate: Work them into the schedule and start to search for a backup (or two)
Candidly, there’s a lot more that goes into it than just the 6 steps above. But if you share this newsletter with just 1 person, I’ll send you a PDF and video walking through everything you need to know about hiring Airbnb cleaners for your business. The whole enchilada.
Hiring can be a pain in the butt, but if you follow the outline above and stick to the 6 steps, you’ll be in a position to hire rockstar cleaners and grow your business in no time!
If you’ve nailed the hiring piece already but are looking to grow your client base and think that working with property managers might be your next move, I went deep on my approach for cold calling property managers and how you can stand out from the crowd.
If you thought this newsletter was decent, I’d appreciate you sharing it with a friend, co-worker, host, etc. It helps our newsletter grow and will give me the motivation to keep sending useful content like this 💪
Until next time,

Logan
